Breast Enlargement - Breast Augmentation

Photo Gallery         Frequently Asked Questions

Augmentation mamoplasty, also referred to as breast enlargement or breast augmentation, is a procedure to surgically enhance the size of a woman's breasts by inserting saline implants behind the breasts.  This procedure is one of the most commonly performed in the field of plastic surgery.

Breast augmentation may be performed for a woman who, for personal reasons, feels her breast size is too small, as a reconstructive option following breast surgery or, very commonly, to correct a difference in symmetry between the two breasts.  This procedure can have a tremendous positive impact on a woman's self-esteem and self image.

The surgery usually takes two hours and is customarily performed under general anesthesia.  The operation may be performed under local anesthesia with sedation in some situations.

Most of our patients elect this surgery on an outpatient basis and are back to work within a few days.  The breasts may be sensitive to physical contact for three to four weeks after surgery and the surgical scars usually fade within several months to a year or more.

While we strive to minimize complications and maximize patient satisfaction, we would be remiss if we did not remind you that as with any surgery, there may be side effects and there are risks.
