Breast Reduction or Reduction Mammoplasty

Photo Gallery         Frequently Asked Questions

Reduction mammoplasty, also referred to as breast reduction, is a procedure to remove fat, glandular tissue and skin from the breasts, creating smaller, lighter and firmer breasts.  The end result yields better shaped breasts in proportion with a woman's body, allowing for more comfort and a better clothing fit.

We have found that our breast reduction patients are among our happiest patients.  The procedure often relieves symptoms of back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain and bra strap shoulder grooving.

This procedure is generally performed on an outpatient basis and usually requires two to four hours to complete.   Breast reduction is most commonly performed under general anesthesia.

Breast reduction surgery may be covered by your insurance if you are experiencing neck pain, back pain, shoulder strap grooving, rashes underneath the breasts or headaches.  Most insurance companies require that a certain amount of breast tissue be removed to qualify the surgery as medically indicated rather than as strictly cosmetic.

While we strive to minimize complications and maximize patient satisfaction, we would be remiss if we did not remind you that as with any surgery, there may be side effects and there are risks.  These will be covered more fully during your consultation.
