Removal of breast tissue and skin from the breasts makes them smaller, lighter and firmer. Women whose breasts are large causing neck pain, back pain, shoulder grooving; rashes under the breast or who feel uncomfortable or self-conscious will benefit from this procedure.

The surgery will take about 3-1/2 to 4 hours.

Your breasts will feel uncomfortable for 2-7 days. You will wear a gauze wrap for 3 days and gauze bandages for 1-2 weeks.

You should avoid strenuous activity for about 2 weeks.

You will be able to return to work in 3 - 4 days.

General anesthesia (asleep) is used most commonly.  This will be performed by a Board Certified Anesthesiologist.

The scars will be located around the areola (which can be made smaller) vertically down to the breast crease. All scars are hidden in a bra or bathing suit.

While complications are rare, The risks include infection, bleeding and scarring, as with all surgical procedures. Delayed healing (some skin may require additional dressings until healed and numbing or delayed healing of the nipple area are specific to this procedure.
