Collagen and Fat InjectionsInjectable fillers are also called soft tissue fillers. These terms refer to injectable collagen and/or fat. These substances are used to help fill creases or deeply lined facial skin (for example: crows feet or nasal labial lines, the junction between the upper lip and cheek) to restore a smoother, more youthful appearance or to add fullness to lips. When soft tissue fillers are injected beneath the skin, they work by plumping up the creased or sunken areas of the face. These fillers may be used alone or in conjunction with a laser resurfacing procedure or a face lift. Before collagen injection is performed, a skin test is required to determine whether an allergy exists. This is a simple skin test that usually is performed at the initial patient appointment with follow-up after 30 days. The amount of time needed for collagen injection is dependent on the amount of injection needed. Normally, it is completed between 15 minutes and one hour. While we strive to minimize complications and maximize patient satisfaction, we would be remiss if we did not remind you that there may be side effects and there are risks. These will be discussed more fully during your consultation. For more information on injectable fillers, or to schedule a consultation, please contact us at 520/297-3300 or by e-mail.Additional Reference:American Society of Plastic Surgery's Injectable Fillers web page.Home Profile Location Procedures Q & A |
