 Richard N. Hess, MD, FACS

Dr. Hess is a cosmetic, plastic and reconstructive surgeon.  He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles with degrees in Biology and Chemistry.  He then attended the University of Arizona Medical School and graduated in the top third of his class.   He performed his general surgical internship and residency at the Phoenix Integrated Surgical Residency program.  He then completed his plastic surgical residency at the University of Rochester's Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York.  Dr. Hess also spent six months to further study microsurgery and facial reconstruction at Roswell Park Memorial Institute in Buffalo, New York.  His special interests throughout his training have been in cosmetic and hand surgery.  He has also had special training in the use of lasers.

    Dr. Hess is an active member of the American Society of Plastic  Surgeons and is  board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.  He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS.).  His tenure as the Section Chief of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery was from 1989 - 2000.

    Dr. Hess performs his many of his cosmetic procedures at Northwest Tucson Surgery Center located on the campus of Northwest Medical Center. For those patients requiring a hospital setting, Dr Hess is an active staff member at Northwest Medical Center and Oro Valley Hospital.   Dr. Hess performs his procedures (other than those under local anesthesia) only in accredited medical facilities and he utilizes only board certified anesthesiologists.  Dr. Hess and his staff strive to maintain the highest quality of care in a comfortable environment to meet the personal needs of each patient.

Sven Sandeen, MD

     Dr Sandeen is a plastic reconstructive and hand surgeon.  He attended the University of Arizona, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a degree in biology, a split minor in chemistry, physics and math and an additional minor in Spanish.  Dr Sandeen lived abroad in Spain during his senior year and was also elected Phi Beta Kappa.  He then went on to attend the University of Arizona College of Medicine where he graduated in the top 5% of his class and earned election to Alpha Omega Alpha medical honorary society.  Prior to graduating, he traveled to Ecuador where he spent time with a local surgeon performing rural surgery near Cuenca, Ecuador.  Dr Sandeen performed his general surgical internship and residency at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York.  He then completed his plastic surgical residency at the same institution.  His special interests throughout his training have been in cosmetic, reconstructive, hand and microsurgical free flap reconstruction.

        Surgical procedures including both cosmetic and reconstructive, are performed by Dr Sandeen at Northwest Tucson Surgery Center located on the campus of Northwest Medical Center. For those patients requiring or preferring a hospital setting, Dr Sandeen is an active staff member at Northwest Medical Center and Oro Valley Hospital.   These facilities are fully accredited and anesthesia is administered only by board certified anesthesiologists.

      Dr Sandeen is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.  He is currently the Section Head for Plastic Surgery at Northwest Medical Center.
